[comp.lang.ada] Meridian Ada Users Group BBS Problem

eric@sarin.UUCP (Eric Beser K3UHF) (03/10/88)

There has been a problem reported to me about access to the
Meridian Ada Users Group BBS. This problem occurs when accessing
at 1200 baud. To successfully access the MAUG BBS, set parity even,
data size is 7 bits. When loging on at 1200 baud, at the carrier send
a SYSTEM BREAK! Not CR. Using procomm, that would be the Alt-F7 key.

This problem occurs only at 1200 baud, and does not occur at 2400
baud. The reason is that the modem comes up at 2400 and then autobauds
down to 1200, then 300. At seven-bits, even parity, the carriage return
does not cause the autobaud to work. The SYSTEM BREAK key causes the baud
to be dropped, and access occurs ok.

This problem also only occurs at seven bits even parity. Unfortunately,
the unix port set at eight bits, no parity, does not work reliably with
UUCP.

There is now an increasing collection of ada software being downloaded to
the MAUG BBS. The system conferences are eagerly awaiting user input.

To access the MAUG BBS, call (301)-356-4532 (1200, 2400 baud). (at 1200
baud send a SYSTEM BREAK instead of CR). Type BBS at the login prompt.
First time users type NEW or GUEST at the BBS prompt. You will then be
assigned a name and allowed to pick a password.

For more information, come to the Meridian Ada Users Group Meeting
at the Spring SIGADA in Phoenix. Contact Pat Rogers (713) 488-9419
for more details.
