[comp.lang.ada] information requested on Ada compilers

banderso@sagpd1.UUCP (Bruce Anderson) (04/24/88)

We here at Scientific Atlanta are about to embark on the great
government mandated adventure into Ada :-) and are looking at
cross compilers which run on a Unix system (probably either Suns or
HP9000/300s) and are targeted to a generic 680x0 bare chip system.

In talking to vendors it seems that data comparing compilers is
hard to come by and is considered company confidential by at least
some of the compiler companies. If anyone out there has done any
comparisons of different compilers, in the areas of compile time,
general code efficiency (both memory and execution speed) and
particularly task switch times I would appreciate getting any
data I can.

We are currently looking at Ready Systems, Telesoft, Verdix and
a couple others which I can't seem to remember right now. If you
have had good or bad luck with any of these compilers (and/or
development environments) or any others I would also be interested
in hearing about it.

Please mail responses and I will post a summary to the net.

Thanks in advance,
Bruce Anderson
