[net.movies] John Cheever cameo in _The_Swimmer_?

In 1968, a film version of John Cheever's short story "The Swimmer"
was released, starring Burt Lancaster in the title role, and
it was just shown on a Boston independent station.

I have one question:  does anyone know if John Cheever made a cameo
appearance in the movie?  I thought I saw him greet Lancaster in
a short scene.
