I recall (from some magazine article) that Siskel and Ebert do not consult
each other before the show; they only decide what movies to review and
who goes first for each review.  Also, they are not good friends, and 
some professional rivalry is at play here, too (they work for different
newspapers).  This explains why some of their shows come across
as disorganized--they sometimes are.  Most of the time the spontaneity and
competition works better than this particular episode.

They had problems again this week ("Weird Science", "Real Genius", etc.)
They were arguing like a couple of kids.  Usually (as mentioned above)
they have some respect for each other's opinion and the spontaneity
makes the show enjoyable.  This time, I learned nothing coherent about
any of the movies because Gene would say snidely "This movie was
meaningless" and Roger would say rudely "You don't know what you're 
talking about."  Jeez.  If they keep this up they can count me out.
