Mini-Review: 3 *s out of 4. A fine film well worth seing, although not well distributed or aimed and thus not likely to last long, so see it now. Review: This is a truly fine film. For once, a film about the trials and tribulations of being a young intellectual. It's funny, a little bit fantastic, and intelligent. The reason I say this film may not be around long is because it is aimed at the hi-IQ set and this isn't the bulk of moviegoers. Real Genius concerns a 15 year old genius admitted as a university freshman and another young genius (about 20) as a senior. They're both working for a maniulative professor on a high-power laser project, but they don't realize it's really intended for Star-Wars/SDI type use. Yet the film makes no preachy statements about SDI, although it does make a statement, and that's refreshing. Now the characters in this story are far too capable, but unlike other movies that have super scientists because the writers don't understand what scientists are like, these people are super scientists in the wishful thinking sense. See this movie, you will enjoy it. It is not at all a "teen movie" like the abomination "WEIRD SCIENCE." -- Brad Templeton, Looking Glass Software Ltd. - Waterloo, Ontario 519/884-7473
