> Thanks to the fifty or so of you (so far) who have identified "Eminence > Front" for me! I should never have guessed the Who - it sounds quite > unlike "Baba O'Riley" or "Pinball Wizard." A few reasons why it may not sound "like" the Who: Townshend is doing lead vocals (which he *has* done occasionally---the "teenage wasteland" break in Baba O'Riley, e.g.), and Jones does not play drums a la Keith Moon. Daltrey is, in fact, doing backing vocals and playing guitar. But what does it mean for a song to sound "like" the Who? Please show the similarities in these songs: Can't Explain Magic Bus My Wife I Can See for Miles Bell Boy Boris the Spider Reign O'er Me Who Are You Punk Meets the Godfather Guitar and Pen Sparks Underture Behind Blue Eyes The point: the Who may have had definitive sounds at different points in their history, but there were so many of them, it's hard (no pun intended) to pinpoint just what THE Who sound was. (If I *were* to pick one archetypical Who song, I'd have to say, over the course of time, it was "Won't Get Fooled Again", but I'm sure other people would pick others.) -- a more wretched hive of scum and villainy: not found Rich Rosen pyuxn!rlr
