Alas, with my preliminary oral exams coming up, I don't have time to post a real review of this movie, so I'll settle for a few comments. In my opinion, this is John Landis' best film (not, in itself, saying a lot). It's lots of fun, particularly for movie buffs. The excellent cast is led by Jeff Goldblum (underplaying at last) and Michelle Pfeiffer, and includes Dan Ackroyd, Richard Farnsworth, David Bowie, Irene Papas, Vera Miles, and Clu Gulager, plus about a dozen well-known directors in small parts and cameos (this is what makes it fun for movie nuts). These include Landis himself, Don Seigel, Jim Henson, David Cronenberg, Roger Vadim, Paul Mazursky, Jonathen Demme, and Lawrence Kasden. The plot is too good to spoil, but can be discussed in superficial terms without ruining the fun. Goldblum plays an aerospace engineer with chronic insomnia. While killing some sleepless nighttime, he runs into Pfeiffer, a young woman with a *very* serious problem. What follows is an excellently paced comedy-thriller with some good performances, all pulled off with a suitably light touch. Highly recommended. -- Peter Reiher reiher@ucla-cs.arpa {...ihnp4,ucbvax,sdcrdcf}!ucla-cs!reiher

I recently viewed John Landis's "Into the Night" (starring Jeff Goldblume), and wasn't able to catch the "See you next Thursday" which appears in all of his movies. Can anyone out there tell me where it appeared? Mailed responses would be appreciated. Thanks. Steve Marcovici AT&T Bell Laboratories ...packard!srm
