The AJPO has commissioned a project through it's ATIP program to have an Ada to C shell developed. The shell interfaces to an existing GKS implementation that's written in C but to the Ada programmer, it's meets the GKS Ada binding. Previous attempts at using existing pure Ada implementation of GKS were either met with the bindings not matching the GKS Ada standard or a much too limited support of peripheral devices (printers, plotters, etc.) This effort focuses on using an existing commercial package that supports over 250 devices.
