[comp.lang.ada] C to Ada translation

levene@aplcomm.jhuapl.edu (Robert A. Levene) (03/07/90)

Findings are in for the survey of C-to-Ada translators.

Opinions are strongly against translating any code if the new code
is to be maintained seriously. Suitable applications include translating
mathematical models for incorporation into new front-ends.

The following list is for information only, and is by no means intended to
be comprehensive. I am not sufficiently familiar with the products of these
companies to give either favorable or unfavorable recommendations. Once again,
if anyone out there has more information about these or other companies,
please send me e-mail.

I just spoke with Dave McGonagle, who says Software Rework is *working*
on a C-to-Ada tool, and has no plans to distribute such a tool. When
complete, they will provide the *service* of C to Ada translation.
