I recently got the ada_tutr.arc from ajpo.sei.cmu.edu and can't figure out how to unarc it. It doesn't appear to be in any version of pc archiving format that we currently have. Any suggestions? I don't know of a main frame version that uses .arc as an extension and BACKUP does not recognize it as a save set. Also I am wondering if there is a version of ADA for the IBM PC. Any help here? Try the directory pd2:<ada.ada-tutr>. -- Karl -- Karl A. Nyberg karl@grebyn.com Post Office Box 497 Grebyn Corporation Vienna, VA 22183-0497 USA +1-703-281-2194

ADA_TUTR.ARC is available on SIMTEL20 in PD:<MSDOS.ADA>. It was arced by ARC 5.21. I don't know where the AJPO machine got it from, but if they transferred it from SIMTEL20 and did not have the binary file transfer settings of FTP set up correctly, it would have been corrupted by the transfer and unarcable. The source to ADA_TUTR is also on SIMTEL20 in ASCII. See the ASR Master Index or the online documentation for details on location. Rick Conn

It's reissued at the beginning of each comp.binaries.ibm.pc "volume" (every few mos.). It's included in the c.b.i.p starter's kit. Other programs that will work are arc, pkxarc, & pkunpak. You can download them from any of several bulletin boards, wait for the next c.b.i.p. volume (#8), or check your site's old c.b.i.p. articles. Rick Carle

Ada_tutr is a tutorial on Ada. It runs on PCs, Suns, and any other platform supported by an Ada compiler, is interactive (i.e., presents material, asks questions, branches on the answers) and includes programming problems. It is shareware, and the source code (written in Ada) and data files (encrypted) are available in the ASR. Rick Conn
