I saw 'The Sure Thing' on tape a few nights ago and it was very good. It is about two students, from an ivy league school, who, because of various events, end up hitchhiking together to Los Angeles. The story is a romantic comedy, but with a gentle touch. The main characters are treated like real people and not the butt of jokes, but it still manages to be very funny. Rob 'Meadhead' Reiner directed this. I don't remember seeing the leads John Cusack and Daphne Zulinga (sp?) in any other movies. As a sidelight I noticed that the Executive Producer was named Henry Winkler, is this the Fonz, or just someone with the same name? Joel Upchurch

It's him, and I agree with your recommendation of The Sure Thing -- as the year goes by, this has shaped up to be one of the three best comedies of the year. Winkler, Reiner and the various actors and actresses deserve a round of applause for this funny, touching and extremely human character study. "Just remember: Abraham Lincoln didn't die in vain.
