PUBLIC REVIEW OF ACVC 1.12 CANCELLED

At the recent TRI-Ada meeting in Baltimore, I announced that the Ada
Joint Program Office (AJPO) would be conducting a public review of
ACVC 1.12 in the near future. I have now decided to suspend this
public review and to not use ACVC 1.12 for validation under Ada 83.
The proposed ACVC 1.12 will be provided to the Ada 9X Project as the
baseline validation suite for Ada 9X.

As input to my decision, I considered the opinions of the Ada Board
members who reviewed the new and modified tests in what would have
been ACVC 1.12. The consensus of the Ada Board was that vendor
resources should be expended on improving compiler performance and on
preparing to transition to Ada 9X rather than on preparing to validate
under ACVC 1.12.

ACVC 1.11 is the official validation test suite and will remain in
effect until at least 1 January 1992. The certificates associated
with 1.11 will remain current until at least 1 March 1993. Prior to
the release of the Ada 9X suite (ACVC 2.0), there may be a transition
suite, tentatively designated 1.11A which will be similar to the
proposed ACVC 1.12 except tests that conflict with 9X will be removed.

Additional details regarding the implementation of this policy will be
forthcoming.
