Saw Compromising Positions last night. Enjoyed the film thoroughly. It is not the years best film, but is certainly one of the top five. What makes Compromising Positions good is that it works on many levels. First, it was a good murder mystery. I didn't know who done it till the director was ready for me to know. Second, the film had a good sense of humor. There was relief without destroying the plot or mood set up by the director. Loved "cupcake." Third, all of the interesting characters in film were women. This was not a film about men. The women were multidimensional and played the active roles, and the men were there as props. A role reversal from the typical films, such as "Real Genius" or "Back to the Future." Women were both the heroes and the villains in this film. Fourth, the view of upper middle class suburbia struck me as plausible. Fifth, the film showed a relationship between a man and a woman without the necessity of consumating the relationship in bed. Sixth, the film showed a woman in control of her sexual relationships, as opposed to just being a "toy" for man. Seventh, the film approached the problem of a career woman turned house wife, desiring to return to her career. Go see it and enjoy. 3.75 stars out of 4. Larry Welsch

Gene and Roger just gave the film a double thumbs down. While I generally liked the film, I have to agree with them the Edward Herrman role was extremely over acted. The husband came on much too strong for the mood of the rest of the film. So there.
