riddle@im4u.UUCP (Prentiss Riddle) (09/18/85)
This was my favorite among all the suggestions received. >> Well, Prentiss, one of my favorite pet projects ("If I ever had the >> money..") would be to make "The Monkey Wrench Gang", by the infamous Edward >> Abbey. I would probably cast Pernell Roberts (Trapper John, MD, Bonanza) as >> the Doctor, I have toyed with the idea of Alan Alda as Seldom-Seen Smith (a >> change of pace for him), I still haven't come up with a good choice for the >> young lady (maybe Debra Winger, actually Karen Allen would be better) and >> have always seen Jeff Bridges as George Heyduke (assuming they wouldn't let >> me play the part). After seeing John Boorman's "The Emerald Forest", I >> think I might like him as director, maybe produced by Spielberg. Of course, >> it would have to be a big budget movie. The sheriff would be that fat >> character who always plays sleazy country law officers. >> >> I have always wondered why this was never made into a movie, as all the >> reviews of the book indicated that they thought it was perfect cinema >> material. Ah, well, if I ever have the money... >> >> -- Clark Quinn clark@sdcsla.UUCP "George Heyduke lives!" Great idea! I thought it read like a movie myself. But if we're going for a star-studded cast, how about Jack Nicholson as Heyduke? Either that or let John Sayles make it, with his talent for finding great unknown actors. --- Prentiss Riddle ("Aprendiz de todo, maestro de nada.") --- {ihnp4,harvard,seismo,gatech}!ut-sally!riddle riddle@sally.UTEXAS.EDU --- Leaving the net soon: friends can write for my new snail-mail address.
