The May/June issue of Forth Dimension has a product from Wayland, which adds APL style array processing capability to FORTH. From the address in the ad, I think the author is Richard Naugle who presented a paper in APL'86 (p.164) with the title 'APL compilation and interpretation by translating to F83VEC'. I rely on APL for my day to day data analysis. It is really convenient to do some quick calculation using APL; the concise and rich operators, and the array oriented environment are the reason. However, my data has to come in through instruments. It is not so easy and efficient to get data in APL. It is nice that someone comes out with the APLed extended forth (Laxen F83, according to the paper). Has anyone used the product ? How much does he ask for one copy ? Does it have garbage collection built in ? How far does he implement the features of APL in FORTH? You can either mail me the info. Or better post it on the net. Thank you.
