[comp.lang.forth] ANSI Forth

>Is there any possibility of an ANSII [SIC] Forth?

Yes indeed. Their first meeting was held about a month ago. Most all of the
major Forth vendors were in attendance.

From what I have heard (I was not at the meeting) there are going to be no
major (if any) changes made to the Forth 83 Standard. Instead, the group
will be working on standardizing extensions to the Forth language.

I believe the next meeting will be held around the beginning of October, 1987.

BTW, much to many people's surprise, Charles H. Moore is attending the
meetings.

If anyone has any specific questions about the ANSI Forth Standards meetings,
eMail them to me and I'll answer them for you. (By referring them to the
Chairman of the ANSI Forth Standard Technical Sub-Group. (or something
like that :-) )

I thought people mighta thought I was off my rocker when I asked this a
while back. (who needs ANSI when you have the FST right??)

Then Dr. Dobb's proved me not such a fruit-cake after all--- in the new
Forth column in Dr. Dobbs Martin Tracy speaks about the establishment of
X3J14 (VERY meaningful committee name, lemme tell ya!) a technical
committee for ANS Forth... we'll see how this goes...
