Absolutely, Laura! This is one of my favorite movies, in part for Kubrik's eye
for photocomposition, mainly because it engages me on many levels. Any
creative work -- fiction, painting, whatever -- that can hit you on so many
levels is Art in my book. The characters are well-developed, the plot is
intense, the message is complex but clear.

Maybe detractors of ``A Clockwork Orange'' are not seeing beyond the violence.
Sure it's there, but it's not an end unto itself. (If you don't appreciate the
distinction, watch a low-budget martial arts film.) It's not a film for the
faint-hearted, but then hard-hitting drama never is.
