[comp.lang.forth] Forth for the C-64

caasnsr@titan.nmt.edu (Clifford Adams) (04/06/88)

A *really* good forth for the 64 is Blazing Forth by Scott Ballantine.
It has everything that one would usually want. The documentation is complete,
but it doesn't teach the language (but refers to Starting Forth (Leo Brodie)).

This implementation has full turtle graphics (with splitscreens too),
sprites, and an interrupt-driven music system (nice). These extensions
may be deleted for more memory. The actual implementation is a good
Forth-83 standard. I used this implementation for over a year (before I
started using (*real*) computers.

Unfortunately, the system is not in ROM. The system does allow a
fully executable file to be created with your Forth program, however.

I found this file about 2 years ago on a local BBS, but it soon
disappeared. The docs hinted that it may be availible on Compuserve.

This is a really nice Forth. Much better than Commodore's Forth
cartridge.
