In the Forth-79 standard double length numbers were required to have the least significant word (cell) below the most significant on the stack (this appears in the section on glossary notation). This is also true in F83 -- but I have just come upon a non-standard Forth (Uniforth) in which the order is reversed. Does Forth-83 preserve the requirement that the LSW be on the bottom? (or is the placement regarded as implementation-dependent?). Are there popular versions of Forth-83 in which the order is switched?
