[comp.lang.forth] Neophyte wants to get started

aj-mberg@dasys1.UUCP (Micha Berger) (04/11/89)

Hi folks,
I'm a CS MS student, formerly EE. I was told that for
designing my own projects, FORTH was a good alternative to assembler.
I've got a lot of programming experience but almost all of it is in
descendants of Algol (Pascal, C, PL/1) Well, this got me interested
in looking into FORTH, so...
Could anyone please suggest to me a list of books that could
get me started, and a nice, mainstream, cheap or PD (which I guess
could be called VERY cheap) FORTH? I'd appreciate it very much.
