PD: I don't know. This A4TH thing sounds pretty good. Commercial: JForth, no contest. 32 bit JSR threaded, with inline substitution for "small" words object-oriented environment extension easy access to all ROM and disk resident .libraries zillions of tools and utilities uses text files, but provides block environment for those who reeeaaaaally want it :-) C-like structure definitions, especially useful with .library calls Complete set of RKM include files, analogous to their .h counterparts Disassembler *Motorola-format forward (as opposed to RPN) assembler *CLONE - target compiler, crunches down through the dictionary to produce fast, compact, standalone applications *modules - chunks of precompiled dictionary which can be inserted into and removed from the search path. These consume no dictionary space. *hashed dictionary search (zzzzzZZIP!) *command line history and editing I'm sure there're a few things I'm forgetting. had enough? * - available only with JForth 2.0 ("Professional") For Amigans only: For those of you who are JForthers and MIDIots, I have a packet of code which interfaces JForth to Bill Barton's PD midi.library. I could zoo it up and send to comp.sources.amiga, but I'm wondering if it might be more appropriate to post here. It's not terribly large, I don't think. Anyone interested? Has anyone done a JForth/ARP interface? Peter M. Yadlowsky | "Pay no attention to that man Academic Computing Center | behind the curtain!" University of Virginia | pmy@Virginia.EDU |
