[comp.lang.forth] Success and use of FORTH

In regards to succesfully using FORTH in the marketplace:

FIrst of all I feel fairly out of place sending this message, since I do not
currently do any programming in FORTH...but once upon a time...I worked for
a software company (which remain un-named) which did almost all of its
development in FORTH. We used a proprietary system, and were able to create
remarkably compact code. I learned FORTH while working with this company and
enjoyed working with it, although I'm a use what you've got on the job kind
of person and really haven't used it since.

Part of the reason I enjoyed FORTH were the strict documentation and coding
standards enforced by our head of development. On the whole, our code was
consistent, easy to read and debug. The particular project I worked on was
an implememtation of LOGO for PCs. In terms of succesfully completing the
project, I am happy to say we were (and it was a fairly large project). In
terms of making a million...we were quite unsuccessful, but I would say this
due to poor management on the business end and not any problems with FORTH
