[comp.lang.forth] Chip off the old BLOCK

trolfs@vax1.tcd.ie (Tommy) (08/06/89)

Can anyone tell me what the new standards team are doing about
Forth's input-ouput features (or rather, lack of them). I know that
BLOCK is nice and simple and in keeping with the Forth philosophy,
but it's about time Forth learned to communicate with the outside
world. I know that most, if not all, commercial implementations
provide their own means for using files etc.., but a reconised
standard would be really cosy. (forgive me if this is old hat, but
I'm in the dark on these issues. No, let me rephrase that, I'm in
    Ireland on these issues:-)
