I have finished a version of forth for the Macintosh. It generates straight 68000 machine code, and can build stand-alone Mac applications. It implements most of the "standard" words (taken from Brodie) and is easily extensible to include Mac ToolBox calls. IO is implemented via streams instead of blocks, and the console window supports copy and paste operations. On the down side, since I didn't have access to a definition of a FORTH standard, it's a bit of a hodge-podge. From what I can tell, its about midway between '79 and '83. For more information, send me mail at sdh@flash.bellcore.com While I can send BinHex'ed copied through email, I would prefer to do the transactions by floppies so you can get the source code and documentation, and I won't piss off any system managers for sending 120K mail messages. Send a 3.5' Mac Floppy to Steve Hawley 13 Catherine La #2 Morristown, NJ 07960 And I'll send you my forth with source and docs pronto. The actual forth kernel was written in 68000 assembly and has NO Macintosh dependencies and is therefore portable to other 68000 systems.
