I saw Jagged Edge last night. I was dissapointed after the good reviews I had seen of it. Glenn Close's acting was quite good, Jeff Bridges was pretty good too. I think that the culprit for my lack of enthusiasm is the writer. The problem is that the prosecution is trying the accused on next to no evidence, in such an unreal courtroom battle that I had to laugh. Also the film gave you only one person to suspect, there were no clever twists. There was no concern on the part of Jeff bridges character for who had killed his wife, and only near the end of the film are we introduced to anyone else who might have done it. If you clip out the 10 seconds of nudity/sex scene, the film looks like a made for TV film with a high priced star (Glenn Close). The strength of this film lies in always pointing to a very likeable guy as the murderer, and leaving him likable, while not giving you a choice for someone else to have done it. I think that it would not have been that hard to have added more details and surprises. But they aren't there. On the -4 to 4 scale, I'd give it a 1. About the same as ** (2 stars).
