 Some folks seem to think authoritarianism in programming languages is a 
 good thing.  Learn good habits, they say, by being forced into doing it 
 in the One True Revealed Way.  In fact, I've seen some books that 
 criticize a programming language for providing more than one way to do 
 any particular thing.  (Naturally, they *hate* forth!)  But as we can 
 see from recent world events, there's something in the human spirit that
 ultimately rebels against authoritarianism.  And as we close out 1989, 
 authoritarianism isn't doing too well around the world...  ;-)
