It would be useful to me, as a basis for communication and sharing of code.

We need to break out of the "every man is an island" syndrome.

I will go even a step further. In my lab we have and I use dayly 7 or 8
different machines : atari 1040ST, sun 3/60, ibm pc, hp1000/f, vax 780/vms,
alliant fx/1, ibm 3090 vm/cms, mac II/cx ... All have forth, most are
incompatible, have different file access (I know your fight Mitch, thanks !),
different dictionary structure etc etc etc ... We started in 1976 with
Hans Nieuwenhuijzen looking for a standard on our hp1000 and nova machines.
My impressions are now that the changes of the world around as gone faster
than the standard, and that the situation is event worse than then !

A good standard, shurely not a minimal list, would 'be useful to ME, as
a basis for communication and sharing of code' between MY machines !
