This inquiry is not strictly forth related, but the intended implementation language is forth and Many (most?) applications of forth are embedded systems so I figure this is a good audience. I would like to produce (for a client) a single-application handheld calculator. Screen size and memory are not important issues yet. What I would like to know is if the major calculator manufacturers contract for such special, non-in-house applications or are there other 'foundry' type companies out there for such production. Any other pertinent information or suggestions would be appreciated. Please remember, at this stage I am only interested in the manufacturability of the application, not the details of implementation. Thanks for any help. Jeff Sicherman jajz801@calstate.bitnet

Category 18, Topic 15 Message 2 Tue Jan 16, 1990 DANMILLER at 04:03 CST check and see if the hp28s will do the job. it is programmable and uses a forth like language with an expression stack (algebraic expressions can be stacked and evaluated) and garbage collection extensions. The language was described at Rochester summer before last and the paper was reprinted I think in JFAR. Check w hp to see about custom programming paks. <dan> ----- This message came from GEnie via willett through a semi-automated process.
