[comp.lang.forth] RTX Contest Entry Forms

koopman@a.gp.cs.cmu.edu (Philip Koopman) (02/06/90)

According to a well-informed source within Harris,
the contest entry kits have been sent to a mailing
house, and are in the mail even as I type. Expect
to see your entry kit within 2 weeks if you sent
your name in to Harris before mid-January (with
other kits to follow with a 1-3 week time lag
between request and mailing of the kit). I do not
yet have a date when actual boards will be sent
out to selected entries, but it shouldn't be too far off.

I have exercised a prototype of the contest board,
and it seems to be a reasonable environment. It is
skimpy on RAM (3K bytes free), so plan to add some memory
if you want to do a lot of software. I recommend
a pair of 32K x 8 SRAM chips with 55 ns or faster
access. The board documentation comes with schematics
for memory expansion. Get your wire-wrap guns (or
soldering irons) warmed up!
