8 out of 10 for Remo Williams: The First Adventure I won't claim to have read the Destroyer series, but I am tempted to after this fine film. Here is the first real fun secret agent hero since 007. There's lots of action in this film, but it's far from all action like an Indiana Jones film. Remo's a real character whom you can't help but like, and well there's plenty of camp, it's all in good fun. Love the scene where they have a computer room with more Crays than exist in the world! -- Brad Templeton, Looking Glass Software Ltd. - Waterloo, Ontario 519/884-7473

I agree. See this film if you have read and liked any of the Destroyer novels. If you haven't read any of the novels, you might want to get a friend who has to explain the general plot. This makes it easier to understand what Chuin is. -- Hughes Aircraft -- Dean Stephan UUCP: {allegra|ihnp4}!scgvaxd!engvax!dean Disclimer: I disclaim everything. -- Dean Stephan Hughes Aircraft UUCP: {allegra|ihnp4}!scgvaxd!engvax!dean Disclimer: I disclaim everything.

I thought "Remo Williams..." was dumb. It's only redeeming quality was that it wasn't boring.

> 8 out of 10 for Remo Williams: The First Adventure > Brad Templeton, Looking Glass Software Ltd. Agreed. Unfortunately, people seem to be staying away from this movie in droves, at least in the first few days. I hope it makes enough money to become a series... I really enjoyed getting a chance to see Chiun and Remo in action. Much better (and funnier) than seeing Chuck Norris or Arnold Schwartzenegger try to out-Rambo Rambo. For all you Destroyer fanatics out there, this movie doesn't correspond to any of the books. (Not that I have an encyclopedic knowlege of the Destroyer series, but events in the movie don't *seem* to be from the "origin" book, and yet it *is* the "Remo meets Chiun" story.) Despite the discrepancies, I'd have to say that if you liked the books, you will like the movie. -- "He moves like a pregnant baboon.... but I think I can do something with him." -- "How long until his training is complete?" "About 15 years. If I cut a few corners, maybe 14-1/2." -- Wayne Throop at Data General, RTP, NC <the-known-world>!mcnc!rti-sel!rtp47!throopw
