I use the RTX bboard at least once per week with no problems. Here are the settings I use, in case that is the problem: phone: 407-729-4949 9600 baud courier HST (US Robotics) -- use 4800 baud or less if you have problems, since the 9600 protocol is not really standard among some manufacturers 8 bits, 1 stop, no parity, full duplex.
