A year or two ago, Byte had an artical by Stve Ciarcia about an 8051
array that he attached to a PC and used for generating fractals. Might
 be really neat for robotics.

By the way, anybody doing anything with neural networks and robotics?

What does fractal generation have to do with robotics? Make him
 "walk" a funny path?

Now there's a thought! Pattern recognition? Identifying family,
friends, strangers. Learning hallways/mazes. What else?
