koopman@a.gp.cs.cmu.edu (Philip Koopman) (03/01/90)
I am starting a collection of contacts for folks who are interested in becoming third party support houses for the CPU design project I am working on at Harris. I am only interested in the following groups: 1) Established software houses (e.g. language compilers, libraries, support tools) 2) Established hardware houses (e.g. Mac plug-in board) 3) Startups that plan to market and support their own products 4) Companies (and consultants) who are in themselves a potentially very large customer (1000+ CPUs per year). Currently, "third party support" means that you must be willing to finance your development, as well as market and support your own products. Harris will trade early access to future products in return for fostering third party support. I can not say any more about terms, conditions, etc. because I don't know them. Please don't ask for more information in any respect, because I am simply not allowed to give it out. Also, don't call Harris to get more information -- that will just get people upset at me. If you get on the mailing list, you will be notified at an appropriate time. I can make no promises on when, if ever, I will be able to take action with this contact list. However, if you want to be involved, now is the time to send me e-mail or physical mail with your name, address, and telephone number. Also, please include a brief paragraph about what catagory you fit into, and what types of things you might want to do. There will be a formal proposal and qualification process later -- don't waste your time on anything fancy now. Phil Koopman koopman@greyhound.ece.cmu.edu Arpanet 2525A Wexford Run Rd.
