Hi there.. I'm looking for some information about F83. Namely, I'd like to know how words are stored in the dictionary. I've got a decent book called "The Complete Forth", by Alan Winfield, which summarizes this info very well for Forth-79. But I need this info for F83. Can someone point me to either a book or something on-line? (Brodie's "Starting Forth" book is based on F-79 too, it seems). In F-79, a word is apparently stored as follows: _________________ precedence bit --> |_|_7___|___E___| |___X___|___A___| name field ----> |___M___|___P___| |___L___|___E___| link field ----> |_______________| code field ----> |_______________| | | parameter field -> | | | | |_______________| So if someone knows where I can get this information for F83 (and some of the other semi-low-level details about F83), I'd really appreciate it. I need to learn this fairly soon, too. -- Dave Hiebeler / Computer Science Dept. / Amos Eaton Bldg. / Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute / Troy, NY 12180-3590 USA Internet (preferred): hiebeler@turing.cs.rpi.edu Bitnet: userF3JL@rpitsmts "Off we go, into the wilds you ponder..."
