I have two quick questions about F83 and F-PC: 1. Is there a way to read strings from sequential files (rather than block files) under F83? I don't necessarily have to read Forth commands from the file -- I just want to read strings (using "WORD", I guess?) into a buffer where I can then parse them myself. 2. Norm Margolus of MIT wrote a screen editor for F83 which uses Emacs-style keys. This was part of a "PC.4TH" file he wrote that has a variety of PC-specific stuff for F83. I don't suppose anyone has ported this file, or at least the screen-editor, to F-PC? Sure, F-PC has a neat editor, but I like the simple emacs-like one that Norm wrote for F83. I'm not yet good enough with Forth or PC's to port this thing myself. Sorry if these are pretty stupid questions. I don't know much Forth yet, and I'm a pretty slow learner. Hopefully, I'll get better, since I work with a Cellular Automata Machine that uses software written completely in F83 Forth (and some Assembly written under F83 too). -- Dave Hiebeler | Internet: hiebeler@heretic.lanl.gov Complex Systems Group | Bitnet: userF3JL@rpitsmts MS B213, Theoretical Division | UUCP: crdgw1!automtrx!hiebeler Los Alamos National Laboratory / Los Alamos, NM 87545 USA
