My nomination for a totally good movie is "The Thomas Crown Affair". Starred Steve McQueen in the title role, with Faye Dunaway; Paul Burke had a strong supporting role. The situation: Thomas Crown is a bored Boston millionaire, who plans bank robberies for excitement. Faye Dunaway plays the insurance investigator assigned to the case. This is the first movie I've seen that really REQUIRES CinemaScope, rather than merely using it to get a "bigger" effect. The multiple screens showing the different robbery participants are a masterpiece of cinematography and editing. The chess-playing seduction scene also makes good use of CinemaScope, and has some of the most intense acting I've ever seen. The song "Windmills of Your Mind" received an Oscar as best (song from a motion picture?) in 1967. Neither a recent film nor a "great" one (a la "Citizen Kane"), but I recommend it highly. -- {hplabs,amdahl,3comvax}!bnrmtv!perkins --Henry Perkins
