I spent most of my time at Asilomar, but you can walk into Pacific Grove if you want. Everything is reasonably close. It was a fun time, and the scenery is wonderful. > 2. I bestow upon you my recent enlightment: X3J14 isn't here to standardize > the language, they're here to _improve_ it. I was given a copy of the ANS > guidelines for X3 efforts, and damned if that isn't what ANS X3 is slanted > towards. I sincerely believe that the language desperately needs improvement. I would be entirely unwilling to expend the time and money to participate in the ANS Forth efforts without the possibility of achieving such improvement. Based on the number of outside proposals suggesting enhancements, I believe the there is considerable supporting sentiment within at least part of the Forth community. I am pleased that many of the most important "sore spots" that have bugged me for years have been addressed, i.e. files, floating point, error handling, search order, memory allocation.
