[comp.lang.forth] Apple //c forth

Does anyone have/ knows of a FORTH implementation for the good old
Apple //c ?

I've used MVP forth on the Apple //c and //e (and on the ][+ and
Franklyn ace before that). I did the software and driving hardware for
our very first electronic holography system using MVP forth, an effort that
stalled for half a week while I tracked down and typed in the code for
the Laxen Editor (or was it the Perry editor?). I can't abide using
the line editor for real jobs, and only tolerate it barely for poking
about!

Lee Brotzman had a version of his Forth running on Apples- Lee, was it
called UNI-FORTH? I got a demo version from him about five or six
years ago. Worked just fine, but the project was well under way by
then (read: out of money), so I was prevented from switching horses
in mid stream, even though the horse I'd have switched to was better
and going in the same direction...

Yeah, I had a Forth called UniForth for the Apple //c, but I believe
that support has been dropped by Unified Software Systems (you see, Unified,
also known as Arne Henden, took a position in the Astronomy Department at
Ohio State and I remained here in Maryland, and I haven't been very good
about keeping in touch so I can't be sure).
There is a public domain UniForth for the Apple //c that should be
available on GEnie and elsewhere. The planned commercial version I was working
on was a lot better but didn't really get off the ground before Unified headed
West.
You can try to get in touch with Arne at:

    Unified Software Systems
    P.O. Box 21294
    Columbus, OH 43221-0294

I know that Arne is on the net somewhere, I got E-mail from him, but can't
remember the address, sorry.

You may want to contact Tom Bushell (bushell@hawk.nstn.ns.ca). Many, many
years ago, he built TELEKINETICS FORTH, and another local guy, George
Matthews, and he, and me a bit, too, I guess, ported it to ProDOS. I've
used it for a couple applications. It comes with a screen editor, mouse
& joy, clock support &c. Nothing, of course, that you couldn't build
yourself. :-) It's not expensive.
