Nearly everything is wrong to some degree or another, but you don't throw useful things away unless you have or can afford a replacement. I think there is a lot of value in the ANS Basis document. I don't think the Forth community can afford to develop a replacement within a reasonable time frame. Incremental improvements are still possible, and will be carefully considered. Proposals to dramatically change the philosophical framework underlying the document, or to remove functionality that a lot of people have asked for and fought for, don't have much chance. The committee is now in the "home stretch". The finish line is in sight, but fuel is running low. Basis is not perfect, but it's far from "WRONG", and its certainly not worthless. Lets not scrap a good thing because it contains compromises. Mitch
