I guess I ought to admit that for me, SCCS is like the Listerine add: I hate it, but I use it, twice a day. I don't really *like* SCCS, but I use it for everything. I almost had to be forced to start using it, but then after it twice saved me from disaster, I realized that it was worth all the effort. On a large long-term project, with periodic releases, maintained by numerous people, you just have to have some sort of version control system. Actually, my dislike of SCCS partially stemmed from the clumsiness of its user interface. Now that I have a good EMACS front-end to SCCS, it's not nearly as annoying. Mitch
