After I sent in my entry to the RTX contest, I realized that I've never heard anything about either the winners or what other people tried to do. How about if people who won the EB posted some of their ideas, winning or not? Here's mine: I tried to hook up the RTXEB with a TW523 X-10 transceiver module, LCD display and keypad to create sort of an autonomous home control device. Since the 523 module was supposed to be able to poll new modules, I tried to create a system where the user would enter rules about the expected behaviour of X-10 modules. The rules could either describe when things should turn on or off, or tell that some module should be off at some time, and if it was on, there was something wrong. I got a time module hooked up to the EB, as well as the LCD module. Unfortunately, X-10 USA was not selling (nor giving away) the TW523 modules during the contest period. They said either: a) you're not a big company, so we don't care about you, or b) we made only a few in the first run, and we're waiting for big orders to make a second run. Micromint also was having trouble buying the modules for a long time, but they're in their latest catalog, so maybe I'll finish the project after all. -Dave -- Dave "mr question" McIntyre | "....say you're thinking about a plate mcintyre@turing.cs.rpi.edu | of shrimp.....and someone says to office : 518-276-8633 | you 'plate,' or 'shrimp'......"
