I have a customer who is interested in doing some RTX2000 developement on a VAX system. I wanted to know if LMI has a VAX based forth and if the RTX-DS developement system could be ported over to run on a VAX. --- * Via ProDoor 3.1 NET/Mail : LMI Forth Board, Los Angeles, CA (213) 306-3530 Date: 02-20-90 (16:42) Number: 451 To: SEAN O'DONOHUE Refer#: 831 From: RAY DUNCAN Read: NO Subj: VAX BASED FORTH Status: PUBLIC MESSAGE We do not sell a VAX-based Forth at this time, however we would be willing to do one as a custom port. >Does anyone have a pointer for Forth for VAX/VMS.
Klaus Flesch of Forth Systeme in Breisach, West Germany developed such a
Forth about 6 or 7 years ago. I believe he still sells the source code
on request. You can contact him via the LMI Forth Board or by sending
FAX to 011-49-7667-555.

The fig forth is dodgy (uses blocks, but they're stored in files... only supports VT100... flips on the high bit when displaying a VLIST... not Forth-79 or Forth-83...) and shouldn't be used. Whereas, on the other hand, the VAX Forthsim/VMS V3.2 is awesome. It's got RMS file support, store source in files, system service calls, debugging tools, compiles to native code, optimization, etc... It requires VMS 5.2 or greater to run. Alas, my terminal program does not support Xmodem or Ymodem file transfers, and I have never been able to make Kermit uploads function. If you'll mail me your address and what-not, I'll stick the savesets on your choice of TK-50 or 8mm. Exabyte tape and send them off to you, free of charge. Since, I don't have direct access to the VAX machine, could you figure out if you are on bitnet or Internet on that machine, and if so, contact me at the internet/bitnet address below so that we can arrange an alternate method of file(s) transfer?
