[comp.lang.forth] Basis 15

Response to some of Robert Berkey's criticisms
of the ANS Forth effort:

The fact that you did not receive your copy of the dpANS mail ballot
until Thursday can be easily explained as a U.S. Mail delay.
I received my copy on Monday; 3-day mail delays are certainly
not unusual.

A lot of people sent in their response ballots by FAX. Thirteen "yes"
votes were required for passage; by the weekend, that many "yes" votes
had been received.

Personally, I find that calm, reasoned arguments are easier to take
seriously than accusations of "ramrodding", hypocrisy, corruption,
and fraud.

It is true that the current *document* needs editing and improvement
before it is "ready for prime time". However, in the view of most
committee members, including myself, the technical issues have been
99.9% settled, and the remaining work involves presenting the information
more clearly, without changing the technical intent. The i's can be
dotted and the t's crossed during the public review period; indeed, the
public review will help to highlight those areas of the document which
are not clear.
