> We have received complaints about "funny noises" and "bad > ride" in our latest cars. We cannot deal with vague complaints. > ... > <more sarcasm deleted> The people from whom I am asking for specific complaints and suggestions are skilled Forth programmers. ANS Basis is not a tutorial; it is a highly technical document meant to be read by professional programmers. If I were an auto manufacturer, I would expect much more detailed problem reports from auto mechanics than from random car users. I continue to solicit and expect specific complaints, suggestions, and recommendations from the skilled Forth programmers of this newsgroup. At the least, complaints of vagueness can be supported by lists of particular passages whose meaning is not clear, along with possible interpretations so we can figure out how the text can be misinterpreted and how to fix it. Participation by volunteering to help make the document better is much more useful than participation by vague criticism. For example, David Petty and Bent Schmidt-Nielson analyzed the block/file input stream description and identified numerous inconsistencies. Based on their detailed analysis, their requests for clarification on several points, and their suggestions for improvement, this area of the standard was improved. Mitch.Bradley@Eng.Sun.COM
