[comp.lang.forth] Welcome Beginners and old hands!

cwpjr@cbnewse.att.com (clyde.w.jr.phillips) (05/09/91)

I thought I had detected some new heads in our midst, and the last
coupla daze has proven this to be true, with the friendly
sound-offs of a few of the new heads simply confirming their
intent to become members of the community.

To those and others we call "lurkers" WELCOME!

Now I'd like also to say that I see the "nets" ( USENET/FORTHNET/JAX's/ect )
being "right on time" in that they are allowing me to feel the ground swell,
besides bearing their usual technical content.

The FORTH nets in particular have some of the best support/bs ratios
I've seen, and I participate in lots of other nets.

But the downright friendliness, even when flaming
each other, is heartwarming.

And the paradigm shift from one-on-one sig meetings and FORTH DIMINSIONS
being the only support to the nets bearing the fruit of countless ( exag. )
experts to boot strap all those in need portends a new diminsion
in the histery of FORTH.

I do sense a renaissance of FORTH. I do sense a groundswell of
interest in FORTH. When I ask myself why? I come up with
some gibberish like human nature rebelling against a false religion
whose name happens to the the 3rd character in the alphabet.

We all mouth C when demanded and when appropriate,
but share a deeper wisdom/conviction that any totalitarian
view has got to be functionally stilted.

Maybe we've come to gripes with our claims that FORTH can beall/doall
and when we see someone else mouth the same thing about something else...

Well you get a chance to re-evaluate and see things a little more clearly.

So Welcome again, peace, love and good coding.

Clyde
P.S. You know some of the new heads are from the late 80's/90's when you see
'dude' in the salutations and signoffs!
