Category 10, Topic 11 Message 1 Sun Mar 31, 1991 L.LISLE1 [Greg] at 18:21 EST Trying to translate one of the many fine apps in the library to another dialect would be MUCH easier if a listing of the differences was available. I realize this could get massive, I have an old ('79) 360 page book that does this for the Basics of that time. However, it would be very helpful to the whole Forth community. Perhaps if someone familiar with each variant were to take a common source, perhaps F83.LEX (#536), and annotate it with the critical differences..... Am I wishing for the moon? - L. Glen Haydon's _All About Forth (2nd. Ed.)_ has most of what you are looking for. It is an annotated glossary of common usage that shows differences between the Forth "standards". It is much longer than 360 pages. Last I heard, FIG sells it. Almost Greg. There are very few people who know each variant of Forth. However, you are not the first to wish for a cross reference, and I think much of it has already been done. Unfortunately, my memory has slipped, but I seem to remember seeing something like that in the library. You might check out R.SCHMELLE's DIARY files. Number 9 looks like it might have something useful. Also, I think Glen Haydon's books do a good job of covering many of the current systems, but again, the title alludes me. Can anyone out there remember the title of the book I'm thinking of? Sorry! {B-{)> DaR ----- This message came from GEnie via willett. You *cannot* reply to the author using e-mail.
