Any advice on where to target advertising for a Forth single-board
controller?? We've used EDN, EET, ECN, Circuit Cellar, Embedde Syst.
Design. Where would I purchase a mailing list of Forth users??
That might be even more effective..........

Absolutely ! I just talked to Roy Martens (and Sari), proprieters
this last week-end, and MVP still has the same products, and is
more than happy to serve the needs of the Forth Community. They
just don't have the continuing revenue required to maintain a
     high visibility through advertising.

Programmer's Shop failed to pay their bills, and eventually we had to
turn them in to our collection agency. Now we ship to them only on a
cash COD basis, which is why they don't want to list us in their
 catalog.

It depends on what you mean by "representing" and whose Forth you are
interested in. Since you capitalized FORTH, I could assume you mean FORTH,
Inc., and let you know that I work there and pass on most of the messages to
Elizabeth Rather (who really does enjoy reading them).

There are at least a couple of other vendors on the ForthNet as well. Ray
Duncan of LMI and Mitch Bradly of Bradly Forthware are both heard here
frequently. Let me know who else would you like to hear from and I'll see
what we can do about getting them onto the Net.

It's older than that... :-)

It was late 1978 at the Ricky's Hyatt in Palo Alto, CA, when Michel Manoni
told us he'd put his best tie on. He talked about some protected parts of the
code (200 bytes?), that in case FORTH, Inc. folded, the code was being held in
trust by a third party and it would be released. He also told us there was a
new product called polyFORTH.

I know. I had a pre-polyFORTH I for the 8080 in the late 70's also, yet
Elizabeth has picked 1980 as the point when it became "real". At least in the
system I was using, the "transition" was not quite complete from microFORTH.
UNTIL was still END and WHILE hadn't been "invented" yet, REPEAT was AGAIN and
KEY was "below" EXPECT. All those visible clues and more would disappear in
the next few revisions.
