Basically, the subject line says it all. Last year, when I was working full time in an industrial position using Forth, I joined FIG and thought it was worth it (it was also cheaper then). This year, I am in grad school and don't use Forth that much and I feel that $40 is way to much. So, what are the pros and cons of having a student membership category? After all, ACM, SIGFORTH, MAA, IEEE, etc. does. BTW, to get around the money problem, I am working on writing a Forth article to take advantage of the author recognition program. Does anyone know precisle which periodicals qualify --- the announcement says "in a periodical or non-Forth conference". So, for example, does JFAR or the SIGFORTH Newsletter count? I feel most of the current Board also agrees with this opinion. >Matt Hang in there, Matt!
