In addition I found the software for it to be well written and bug free. So I read all the manuals and took special note of the warning about waiting a minimum of 5 second after powering down the unit before powering it up again. I used my system and took great pains to maintain it properly which included observing the 5 second re-power cycle warning. Every thing was fine until on the 100th day (10 days out of warranty) as I was using my system we had a 2 second power loss. My system went down and did not come back up. I checked all my other electronic equipment and all was fine just the 500 had died. So I took the unit in for a repair estimate. I was told that the analog section was dead and it would cost $385.00 plus labor to fix (the cost of a new mother board). I took the unit to two other shops and was told the same thing. In addition I was told by all three shops that they had a rash of 500's come in, in this condition every time the area had a power bump. In the end I gave the unit to a friend that had a unit with a dead disk drive. To answer your question (But what are you really saying?), I just can not bring myself to buy an "AMIGA" again. To bad to I really liked the user friendly environment. Sincerely, Ben Eaton (bie@solman.mlb.semi.harris.com)
