[comp.lang.smalltalk] Thanks for pointers on Apollo Smalltalk

rentsch@unc.UUCP (Tim Rentsch) (01/02/87)

I would like to give public thanks to those who responded to my query
for pointers to Smalltalk running on Apollo's. (Lack of space
prohibits listing the numerous individuals who etc., etc., etc.) For
those of you out there in netland who are interested in running
Smalltalk on *your* Apollo's, sit tight: I will not be posting a
summary, BUT I hear there will be an announcement soon of an
official, publically available Apollo Smalltalk.

Also, I would like to offer an apology for some misunderstandings
created by my previous message.

First, I did not intend to put anyone on the spot by being identified
as the official Smalltalk contact person at Yale. I had heard from
someone who was involved in that effort, but had lost his electronic
mail address. My query was to reconstruct that pointer, so that I
could then ask him who the appropriate contact person is. I am
sorry if my query was construed as more than this.

Second, I realize that the Apollo Smalltalk work has been done in
collaboration with the Xerox people, and that they would have to be
involved in any arrangements made to obtain that interpreter. I
included the parenthetical remark about Xerox only to say that I knew
this, and that I already had that pointer -- nothing more than that.
I am sorry that this message was occasionally misunderstood.

To end on a humorous note:

"I apologize for being so often apologetic." -EWD

cheers,

Tim
